We Won’t Adopt CBT For Our Exam – WAEC

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) says it is not considering adopting a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for its examinations. Its Head, National Office, Mr Charles Eguridu, made the clarification at an interactive forum with the Education Correspondents on Thursday night in Abuja. Eguridu said it would amount to “intellectual dishonesty’’ for him to say that the council would introduce CBT in the next five years or the near future. JAMB UTME 2016 Sales Of Form Begins August 31st (See Important Guidelines)

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has perfected plans to begin the 2016 sales of UTME form by August 31st, 2015. This was made known by the board’s Head of Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin in statement today in Lagos It was gathered that the decision of the board to make the form available now is to prepare candidates early for the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The scratch cards will be made available from August 31st, 2015 and can be purchased from the following banks; Zenith Bank, Sky Bank and First Bank. ”The registration fee for the UTME is N5,000 and candidates are also to pay N500 to obtain the textbook, The Last Days at Forcados High School’. ”Candidates will, however, be issued the book at the point of registration after showing evidence of payment,” the statement stated. 11 First Class as Adeleke University Graduates 124 Students

No fewer than 124 graduating students will receive their first degree certificate during the maiden Convocation Ceremony of Adeleke University (AU), Ede scheduled to hold on Sunday, 6th September, 2015. Speaking at the pre-convocation briefing, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Oluwole Amusan, said that 11 of the graduating students bagged first class honours degree. In a further breakdown of the results, the VC stated that 80 others got Second Class Upper Division while 33 graduated with Second Class Lower. He said one of them has a Third Class Division. He added that the overall best graduating student, who has 4.90 GCPA, finished from the Faculty of Science. Gombe State To Establish University Of Technology

The Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo has promised to establish a University of Science and Technology in the state before the end of his tenure. Dankwambo stated this while receiving the chairman of the Governing Council of Federal University, Kashere, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and his team, at the Government House. He said the decision to establish the new university was inspired by the need to develop the right manpower that would deploy research and technology in resolving the various challenges confronting the state. The governor added that a location has been selected for the university and promised to complete the institution before the end of this tenure.
