The  West African Examination Council (WAEC)  has adjusted the timetable of the ongoing 2015 General Certificate Examination (GCE) in response to request by Muslim candidates. According to the Head of Nigeria National Office of WAEC, Mr Charles Eguridu, the examination that was supposed to take place from September 25 to October 10 has been rescheduled because of Sallah celebration. From the new timetable, the Government 2 (Essay) and Government 1 (Objective) that were scheduled for 2pm and 4pm respectively on Friday 18, would now hold by 2:30pm-5:30pm for the papers 2 and 1 on the same date. The Mathematics (2 & 1) earlier scheduled for Friday, 25th September has been postponed till Saturday October 10, with Paper 2 holding from 9:30am to 12noon and paper 1 from 3pm to 4:30pm. The HNO said the examination body is concerned about the yearnings of the people.

Following the conclusion of the  University of Ibadan (UI) post-UTME screening , the vice chancellor of the institution, Prof Isaac Adewole has disclosed that the school would only admit 3,700 candidates out of 8,992 that wrote the examination. The VC, who was speaking through the Deputy-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emilolorun Ayelari‎, said that five candidates who scored highest scores will be given scholarship by the university. The National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI), Umudike in Abia State has warned against possible outbreak of Cassava Brown Streak Disease (CBSD), a deadly crop disease which mainly attacks cassava plants. The warning was issued during the launching of WAVE Project, a campaign programme against the dreaded CBSD, organised in Umudike, Abia State for agricultural researchers from Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Togo and Ghana. The Executive Director of the Institute, Julius Okonkwo (Dr) in his remarks at the occasion expressed the importance of the WAVE Project, saying it would help to save the continent from serious embarrassment. He added that the institute has made tremendous progress in developing value-added products from cassava.
