Otuoke varsity programmes for accreditation in Nov – VC

The National Universities Commission will begin the accreditation of programmes at the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, in October, 2015, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, has said. Aluko made this known in Otuoke on Friday when the Governing Council of the university visited the institution. FUO is one of the nine federal universities established in 2011 by former President Goodluck Jonathan. Speaking to newsmen after conducting members of the Governing Council on a facility tour of the university, Aluko said the institution “now has faculties of Science, Humanities and Social Sciences with a total of 12 programmes.” The VC said, “This institution has been working very hard for the past three years to ensure full accreditation of the existing 12 programmes and now, we are good to go. TETFUND to spend N10bn on FUTO’s research

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund says it will spend over N10bn on the Research and Technology Park project at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State. The FUTO Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chigozie Asiabaka, who stated this in an interview with journalists, said TETFund had released the initial N1bn for the park project. He said, “We are working on a research and technology park; and TETFund has committed the initial N1bn into the project which will cost more than N10bn. A research and technology park basically is where we partner industry, the private sector and then do research for development. “In a fully developed technology park, you see industry, theory and practice. Students protest in Osun, hold deputy gov hostage

Students in Osun State-owned tertiary institutions on Monday in Osogbo protested against the prolonged strike by their lecturers. The students, who stormed the state secretariat at about 11am, prevented the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori, and her convoy, from gaining access to the premises. The deputy governor, who arrived at the secretariat about 12.50pm, could not go in or exit the place as some of the protesters laid in the front and back of her car. The encounter lasted for almost an hour before the students allowed her into the secretariat. Before then, the deputy governor had promised the students that they would return to classes by next Monday. Layoye-Tomori said, “The governor sympathises with you and we feel the same way you feel. NYSC Abolish Concessional Posting For Corps Members

The Director General of the  National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) , Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawumi has said that there would no longer be concessional posting for all corps members. Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Monday, the DG said that Nigeria belonged to everybody and therefore every corps member would henceforth carry out his/her one year mandatory service in any state they are posted. According to him, the move will help the federal government to maintain the main objective of creating the scheme. 15 First Class as Redeemer’s University Graduates 454 Students

A total of 454 students will receive their first degree certificates during the  seventh convocation ceremony of Redeemer’s University (RUN), Ede  in Osun State scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 29 September, 2015. Speaking at the convocation briefing, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Debo Adeyewa, said that 15 students obtained first class from the institution. In a further breakdown of the results, the VC stated that 135 graduating students had second class upper division while 200 are graduating with second class lower division. 97 others fall into the third class and seven in pass categories. He said the set of graduands was admitted to various academic disciplines in the 2011/2012 academic session.

How to JAMB Admission Status 2015 / 2016

Jamb admission status 2015 update. The  Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB ) has created an online admission status checking link on her e-Facilities portal. This will enable all UTME and DE candidates, irrespective of their school of choice, to keep in touch and know when they are offered admission by their individual choice institutions. Usually, Higher Institutions in the country submits to JAMB their comprehensive admission list for verification. JAMB will then verify and upload the list of approved/successful candidates to the JAMB website before returning the approved list to schools who will in turn upload to their respective websites or paste same within the school campuses. In other words, candidates can check their admission status on JAMB website even before it’s uploaded on their choice institution’s website.
